An inspiring evening of stenciling
I have been hosting my printing workshop for over fourteen years now, and I never seem to get tired of stenciling. This technique is rather easy to do, yet it is so effective and can create beautiful designs and print patterns, without complicated set up and expensive tools.
In this workshop I will talk you through my approach, share my technique and a demo to get you started, but most importantly I will support you to explore, practice and play. This workshop celebrates the process rather than perfect results and absolute beginners and seasoned artists are all welcome…no prior skills necessary.
We are going to create and cut our own stencil design and print a set of cotton napkins using non toxic inks. You will use a set of stenciling brushes that are yours to bring home, along with a gift ; a set of my five pre-cut stencils in my designs that you can use for so many projects and products, so you can continue making at home. I will also share a my list of resources where I go for materials, supplies and inspiration.
I invite you to join me and other fun, like minded makers for this structured, yet playful and pressure-free workshop. My goal for this evening is to plant creative seeds in you and arm you with this useful and fun printing skill.
I was so excited to be invited to join the lovely team of “Oh Canary”, an art studio in my hometown that offers children ( of all ages ) in our community an opportunity to engage in meaningful and developmentally appropriate visual art experiences. The founder, Lacey, used to be my son’s elementary teach when he was ( 8 ?) , and now, 10 years later she invited me to share my art making in her creative space.

HOW TO GET TO THE WORKSHOP:
Montclair can be reached by train with New Jersey Transit, Montclair-Boonton Line, from Penn Station NYC to “Upper Montclair”. It is about a 55 minute ride.
Oh Canary is located at : 237 Lorraine Ave, in Upper Montclair, NJ 07043, right next to the train stop which makes it super easy.
Driving works great of course. There is neighborhood parking nearby, you might have to walk a block or two. Please make sure to give yourself some extra time and margins for travel and please make sure to arrive on time or preferrable 5 minutes early ; we need all the time we can get for printing :) Thank You
NOTE : This is not an incredibly messy process, however we will be working with printing inks for fabric, so please do not wear your most precious finery.
Bringing an apron is a good idea.
